Guide to underwear cuts

BRIEFS – The classic tighty-whities, briefs fit closely for support with a short leg. Typically the bottom of the leg falls above the bottom of the crotch. The fabric in the back covers the entire butt and ends directly under it. Briefs have a variety of different types of fly (opening) in front, but may not have a fly at all.

BOXERS – The standard frat-boy choice, boxers are loose underwear offering coverage but no support. The leg of boxers typically fall mid-thigh, well below the bottom of the crotch. Boxers almost always have a fly, some with buttons for closure and some without.

TRUNKS – The sexier boxer-brief, trunks offer all the same benefits but typically with a slightly shorter cut. The legs of trunks typically fall an inch or two below the bottom of the crotch, which earn them the nick-name of “square-cut.” Most trunks do not have a fly opening in front.
